Chư Đăng Ya, theo tiếng của người J’rai có nghĩa là củ gừng dại. Ngày nay, nơi đây còn mang dấu tích của núi lửa từng hoạt động hàng triệu năm với miệng núi hình phễu, những viên nham thạch lẫn trong đất đỏ bazan màu mỡ.

Khởi hành từ thành phố Pleiku, du khách đi khoảng 30 km về hướng đông bắc sẽ tới xã Chư Đăng Ya, huyện Chư Păh. Ấn tượng đầu tiên khi đặt chân đến vùng đất này chính là con đường hoa dã quỳ dẫn tới chân núi lửa.

Điểm nhấn của núi lửa Chư Đăng Ya chính là sắc vàng rực rỡ của loài hoa dã quỳ. Nơi đây, du khách sẽ dễ bắt gặp, làm quen với những đứa trẻ tinh nghịch ở buôn Plơi Iagri, một làng cổ của người J’rai dựng dưới chân núi.

Từ tháng 11 trở đi là mùa hoa dã quỳ bung nở trên khắp Tây Nguyên. Ở Chư Đăng Ya, hoa dã quỳ bung nở sặc sỡ và tàn muộn hơn so với nhiều nơi bởi thứ đất đỏ phì nhiêu nuôi dưỡng cây cối.

Dã quỳ là loài hoa gắn với truyền thuyết tình yêu của đồng bào Tây Nguyên. Hoa thường nở vào cuối tháng 10 đến hết tháng 12 hàng năm. Ảnh: Doãn Vinh

So với những nơi khác ở Gia Lai, nhiệt độ ở Chư Đăng Ya luôn cao hơn 1-2 độ do đất bazan núi lửa đã trải qua nhiều ngày khô hạn. Miệng núi không có nước và cũng không ai mang được nước lên lên đây nhưng hoa cỏ, cây cối trên núi vẫn xanh tươi .

Theo những bậc cao niên ở buôn Plơi Iagri, từ thời Pháp thuộc, sườn núi lửa Chư Đăng Ya được tận dụng để trồng cà phê nhưng sau năm 1970, một trận hỏa hoạn đã thiêu trụi toàn bộ đồn điền cà phê. Ngày nay, đất đai trên núi được chia đều cho nông dân trong xã để canh tác hoa màu như bí đỏ, khoai lang, dong riềng…

Những đường hoa dã quỳ nở ven miệng núi lửa Chư Đăng Ya.

Một nhánh cây khô nổi bật giữa sắc vàng rực rỡ của hoa dã quỳ. 

Người dân thu hoạch củ dong riềng, một trong những loại cây trồng chủ đạo ở giữa miệng núi lửa vì chịu được khô hạn.

Bí đỏ và khoai lang được xem là sản vật nổi tiếng ở Chư Đăng Ya. Theo người dân địa phương, từ nhiều năm, nhờ đất đỏ bazan trên núi nên củ quả trồng được đều tươi tốt, đậm đà, ngọt bùi hơn so với những nơi khác.

Những đứa trẻ J’rai mang gùi lên rẫy dưới chân núi lửa Chư Đăng Ya. 

Không chỉ có hoa dã quỳ, khi lên đỉnh Chư Đăng Ya, du khách sẽ có dịp khám phá những bãi cỏ xanh ngút ngàn, giống như đi giữa thảo nguyên.
